Clown Royal Rim

A key ingredient to the Moonlander’s proprietary wheel system is the Surly Clown Royal, a 100mm-wide fat bike rim designed exclusively for the 6.2” Molenda tire. Its 24-inch diameter maxes out tire volume for the Moonlander’s frame, helping the bike achieve ultimate flotation and traction over previously unridden terrain.

Our engineers kept durability and low maintenance top of mind by using a tubeless ready rim bed for easier tubeless tire setup with a no-stretch rim strip, plus tubeless rim tape. Extruded channels next to each bead add strength, while cutouts help keep the weight to a minimum.
